"UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL"

Mark's parents are Marie Verdon and Oliver Feehily. He has two younger brothers named Barry (born 1985) and Colin (born 1989).He has a dog named Snoopy
Mark's previous jobs were a pizza delivery boy and he was a photo lab assistant.
Mark enjoys playing football with the other lads, and he supports Liverpool.
Mark went to St Patrick's National School, which was outside of sligo, he also went to Summerhill College, where he met Shane and Kian, and they form IOU. He has a birthmark on his back which he refers to as a 'splodge'. Strangely, his brother Colin's got one as well! Mark had a part in a Cub Scouts play - and he had to dress as a woman, complete with clip-on earrings and a dash of eye shadow! He always keeps his toothbrush in a glass by the sink - and he goes mad if anyone moves it! He once had a job in a restaurant - he was paid £2.60 an hour - and used to have to clean the toilets as part of his job.
Mark's dream house is Big house with swimming pool + tennis court in Sligo. Mark would also really like an apartment in New York! Mark says he would pose naked, but only if he was paid a million pounds!
According to the other lads, Mark is the biggest liar in the band! Nicky claims Mark often lies about his age when chatting up girls. Feehily publicly came out as GAY in the British tabloid The Sun, and announced his long-term relationship with Kevin McDaid, a member of the British boy band V.In an interview he said, "My life has got umpteen times better. My sexuality doesn't define me as a person, but it's a huge part of anyone to be open about it. It's changed my life totally as I feel so much happier and at ease. It's the best thing I've ever done." Unlike his band mates, for years Feehily did not discuss his private life. His manager Louis Walsh was unaware of Feehily's sexual orientation when he picked him for the band.
The pair have been dating since January 2005 after having met at a Cheerios Childline Concert in Ireland. In yet another interview, Feehily told The Sydney Morning Herald that despite the fact that the majority of Westlife's fans are female, there had really been no negative reaction. "I am so much happier now and I think our fans can see that," he said. "Through the years of getting to the point where I wanted to come out, I had to go through every kind of emotion, but I can honestly say that the day before I came out, I didn't care what the reaction was going to be. That was the hardest point to get to."

Mark stated that he wants to grow old with Kevin, and that the pair believe that they will be together forever.Mark and Kevin got engaged on 28 January 2010 and Feehily confirmed the news via Twitter.
In 2011 Mark discussed the couple's plans concerning having children together and discussed their marriage plans. Asked about his other future plans with McDaid, Feehily said "We're best friends and we live together and we're going to get married soon. I can't wait, but we haven't finalised the date."

MARK ON WESTLIFE

IOU
Mark shares lead vocals with Shane Filan.
But before Westlife Mark, Shane Filan and Kian Egan came from the band IOYOU where he had partly written the band's songs, "Everlasting Love" and "Together Girl Forever".
Mark never thought that westlife would win record of the year three times.
His favourite westlife track is can’t lose what I never had and
favourite westlife video is world of our own.

"WESTLIFE LADS ON MARK"

Mark is very funny - you can be in tears laughing at Mark if he’s in the right mood. But he likes to spend time on his own, chilling out in his room watching TV, or going for a long walk..    -KIAN EGAN

Mark is the deceptive one. When I first met him he wouldn’t say boo to a goose and he wouldn’t open his heart out for any of us, but when you get to know him you discover the boy is really mad! "He'd hate it if he was made to feel like he didn't have a life of his own"
Sometimes we have to do a day of solid interviews from nine in the morning to nine at the night and he’ll just get so fed up answering the same questions hour after hour that he starts making things up.We always speak in Irish when we don’t want people to know what we’re saying!  -NICKY BYRNE

He’s very quiet, and can be very shy until you get to know him. He likes his privacy, but is a totally genuine guy - he sings all day. He’s got such a brilliant voice. -SHANE FILAN

"Mark's the best at that. He could sleep on a nail."

- BRIAN MCFADDEN

"EXCESS MARK"

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN THREE WORDS: Shy, reserved but also friendly
RULE OF LIFE: "Money isn't everything, but happiness is"
PHRASE THAT YOU USED OFTEN: Well buddie - what's the craic (Irish for fun)

Mark had a part in a Cub Scouts play - and he had to dress as a woman, complete with clip-on earrings and a dash of eye shadow!

"When I got my head shaved, it was all over the papers. It's weird that when you get a haircut you are in the papers, it's pretty stupid"  -Mark

"Before I was in the band, I thought Dolce & Gabbana was a type of pizza..." -Mark

The Life of Shane

Filan was born on July 5, 1979 to Peter and Mae Filan, and grew up in Sligo, a busy commercial town in the northwest of Ireland.
The youngest of seven children, he has three brothers and three sisters: Finbarr, Peter Jr, Yvonne, Liam, Denise and Mairead.
His parents owned a diner in Slinamed Carlton Caf'e located on Castle Street and Shane used to work there as a waiter from a very early age.

Filan attended Summerhill College, a Catholic school, with Kian Egan and Mark Feehily. All three of them participated in a school production of Grease when they were about 12. The Hawkswell Theatre became a significant part of their careers.

Shane likes to play golf in his spare time, but loves horses much more. He and his family own more than 70 of them, and used to compete at horse tournaments. All of Shane's horses are named Carlton something (e.g. Carlton Flight, Carlton Clover Association of Ireland). A massive Manchester United fan, Filan and bandmate Nicky Byrne proudly wore their Man Utd scarves as they were half time guests at Old Trafford for the game between United and Bolton Wanderers.
Shane won the 2010 Soccer Aid, a British charity football match with the Rest of the World team.

He and his eldest brother, Finbarr, have a company called Shafin Developments Ltd. They are hoping to expand its portfolio with the proposed construction of 63 luxury apartments at the rear of Lisroyan House, Knappagh Road, Sligo.
Shane is the second cousin of Cobra Starship guitarist Ryland Blackinton.

  MARRIED LIFE

Filan married his childhood sweetheart, Gillian on December 28, 2003 at Ballintubber Abbey, followed by a reception at Ashford Castle, Ireland. Shane got to know Gillian through musicals and plays they were in at school. Then in 2000, they met up again in a nightclub in Sligo and decided to go out with each other! Gillian accompanied Shane to the World Of Our Own album launch press conference, but she hid in the audience and Shane wouldn't reveal who she was to the press. Gillian is keen to keep her private life private. Shane says he is in love with her without a shadow of a doubt. He is always sending her flowers. Shane took Gillian to Dubai in December 2002, got down on one knee and proposed to her on the beach underneath the stars!

Shane's groomsmen included two of his bandmates Kian and Mark..

Usually a Westlife wedding is a high-tech security operation trying to protect their photographic rights to the big day.

Going against celebrity tradition Shane Filan instead wanted a special day for his true love Gillian and waved good-bye to the million euro offers from magazines and opting for a day open to friends, family and fans.

Guests at the wedding included Ronan and Yvonne Keating, Kerry and Bryan McFadden, Louis Walsh, Bertie Ahern, Nicky and Georgina Byrne, Bertie and Miriam Ahern, Denis Desmond and wife Caroline, and Kian Egan's actress girlfriend Jodi Albert

Gillian gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Nicole Rose, at Sligo General Hospital on 23 July 2005. Their second child, a son, Patrick Michael, was born at Sligo General Hospital on September 15, 2008. On 5 July 2009 (the day of his 30th birthday) Shane announced that he and Gillian were having their third child. Shane Peter Filan, named after his father, was born at 9.34pm on January 22, 2010 weighing in at 6 lbs 9oz.

WESTLIFE LADS on SHANE

"Shane is sometimes very serious, and sometimes he's off the wall mad. He's great to talk to about anything, and he thinks about things very deeply. He's got very strongly held ideals."-Nicky Byrne

"He's  extremely funny and can have us in stitches in minutes. He's very generous and kind-hearted. And he's the boy who can't say no: when it comes to signing autographs for Westlife fans, Shane is always there to the end, making sure no one goes home empty-handed." -Mark Feehily

"Shane and I are very close. We're both very commited to making this band as successful as we can. We spend ages talking about songs, and about how the band is getting on. He's good fun to be with and, when we go home, we always go out together." -Kian Egan

"Shane is so talented. If i'm having problems getting a song right
I'll go to Shane for help. He can be really lively one minute and then he'll suddenly go really quiet. He loves getting out and meeting the fans." - Bryan McFadden
